1. Handling
Automated Circulation Systems- using LibSys software package 1.1 Automated transactions of book (Issue, Reissue and Return) using barcode system 1.2 Prepare bar-coded users card (with member registration, data update etc.) 1.3 Send regular WEB ALERT for FINE, OVERDUE, COLLECT RESERVED BOOK etc. 1.4 Provide No Dues/ No Demand certificates to the users when required. 1.5 FINE Collection 1.6 Maintain RESERVED Books regularly 1.7 Provide answers for the users various queries 1.8 Help users for OPAC search as well as check their status through online | ||

Responsibilities were | ||
1. Classification of books following DDC latest edition (presently using
22nd ed.). Before consult DDC, we check our database and provide the
earlier class number in case of same title if found. 2. Cataloguing of books following AACR-II 3. Prepare Subject Heading following Library of Congress Subject Heading 4. Preparing / Update Database using Libsys 4.0 software 5. Generate Bar-Code using Libsys 4.0 software 6.Genrate list of new arrival of books which includes bibliographic details including Abstract (newly incorporated) of books and take printout of that list. (weekly) 7. Put hardcopy of new arrivals into display board (weekly). Simultaneously those books are kept for 'New Arrival' Display. During that week we restrict those books for any issue through Libsys database. 8. Update website to display the bibliographic details of new arrivals (weekly) which is available at http://144.16.192.17/usr/tprocess/newarriv.html (Designed has been changed from February 2006) 9. Maintaining the New Arrival Archival Page 10. Send this list to the IIT Kharagpur community through g-mail (weekly) 11. Send all books for Circulation to the users (weekly) |
